I visited the falls during last weekend. The experience was really good. I witnessed 5 to 7 small water falls as I progressed my hike from the steps which are just adjoining to the main fall. The hiking steps are not many and can be easily hiked. I haven't hiked on off the track trails but I reserved them for next time visit. The noise of the water falls through out hike was very soothing and that makes the hike a special one.
My family and I used to love going here ever since we came to Connecticut. Recently when we took some of our foreign guests there we found out that now they don’t let you go into the water. That kind of took the fun away from the whole experience. I don’t think I will drive an hour to go there again.
Parking: Plenty of parking space is available but you will be let in only if the parking slots are available. It was not a problem in my case.
Other than that it has nothing. One more thing. If you go there then summer will be the best option. I went in winter thats why couldn't get the feel of waterfall. If you in summer then you will enjoy more than those people who go in winter.
It's great if you have small kids, or don't want anything to long/strenuous. The trails are clear, short, but a good time nonetheless. We loved it because it was the first time hiking with our dog, not knowing how she would handle the woods - she did great. So if you want to experiment w/ your dog off leash hiking - this is a solid choice.
Fee: No entrance fee or parking fee was charged since it was 4:30 PM by the time I reached the falls. Otherwise it might be a $15 per person if you visit before 4 PM.
There are quite a number of picnic tables available and I would advice to bring a fly repellent, Frisbee or some other toys to play with if you want to spend some time with family.
Well worth seeing not to big. Lots of picnic tables with w/c extension. Was able to take pics at bottom of falls. Trail goes to top of falls if you are up to it. Beautiful fall colors Service gives 2 paws up. The drive up to park is almost even more beautiful. I would go for just the drive.
It's waterfall and mountains makes it unique than others. If you walk up to the mountain then you will have a great view .
Just like a regular park, what makes this park unique from other parks out there?
Food: There is no food stalls except an ice cream mobile van outside the park entrance. We had a nice pizza from a 'Kent Pizza Garden' which is about 4 miles from the park.
